What’s in a name? As it turns out, a lot. When we were naming our new sauces, we chose something that sounded innocuous to use. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have been more wrong.

One of our newest and hottest sauces—henceforth to be known as Red Scorpion Fiery Hot Sauce—originally had a different name. We picked the name after a genus of scorpions of the family Buthidae, unaware that the very name is based on a racial slur

While we want to be clear that we had no idea that this usage existed, we also want to be clear that it doesn’t make it okay, and we’re so sorry that it happened.

Moving forward, the sauce will officially be renamed Red Scorpion Fiery Hot Sauce. We do still have some stock with the old labeling, so if you order you may get that packaging. We completely understand if you mark out the name on the bottle.

We also want to thank the customer and supporter who pointed this out to us so graciously. We never would have known otherwise, and we absolutely appreciate being told.

Stay weird,

Secret Aardvark
