Apocalyptic Reaper Baked Beans & Dogs
Let’s face it: beanie weenies are a classic. It’s the dish that fed picky little brothers, hungry scout troops, and broke college students for generations. But in an apocalypse (or on a Tuesday), why settle for bland when you can have bold?
This version begins with the humble canned baked bean, then elevates it with smoky bacon (if available), a hint of sweetness (optional), and the unapologetic firepower of Secret Aardvark Reaper Hot Sauce. BAM! Add sliced hot dogs (or make do with canned Vienna sausages if that’s what’s in the bunker), and suddenly you’ve got downright craveable comfort food.
Prep Time: 5 minutes (cutting bacon counts as cardio)
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 3–4 (or just you, standing over the skillet with a fork)
Ingredients
2 cans baked beans (15–16 oz. each)
4 hot dogs OR 1 can Vienna sausages (sliced)
4–5 slices bacon (chopped)
1/2 cup red pepper (chopped)
1 small onion, diced
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Secret Aardvark Reaper Smoked Hot Sauce (to taste)
Salt & pepper
Instructions
Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove, leaving about 1–2 tbsp of the fat in the pan.
Sauté the onion and red pepper in bacon fat until softened.
Add hot dogs/sausages and cook until browned.
Stir in baked beans, mustard, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and bacon. Simmer.
Add Reaper Hot Sauce to taste.
Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve straight from the skillet.
