We love brands that change conversations. So, we really can’t rave enough about these three women-helmed companies with Women’s History Month coming up in March. Each, in their own way, has subverted a paradigm that needed to be turned upside down and shaken like a bottle of hot sauce that’s down to its last drop. OH! And they’ve created some of the most innovative deliciousness (we mean “products”) we’ve stumbled upon in some time.

Tikka Masala from Brooklyn Deli

Brooklyn Delhi: Chitra Agrawal

Brooklyn Delhi launched in 2014 after Founder & CEO Chitra Agrawal’s blog started blowing up. People couldn’t get enough of her family recipes, served up with a side of insight into straddling the line between Indian and U.S. culture. Then, she started teaching cooking classes, collaborated with local farmers to host pop-up dinners, and wrote a cookbook.

But that just wasn’t quite enough. She wanted to see achaar, a beloved and staple South Asian condiment, in pantries around the country–and to empower anyone and everyone to prepare pro-level Indian staples in their own kitchens. Much like Aardvark, Chitra started by handmaking small batches of sauce and selling at local markets.

Fast-forward to today and you can find Brooklyn Delhi sauces at major grocers like Whole Foods, Safeway, and Target. And you can get all of their plant-based products, including gift packs and prepared meal packets, on their website (where they also offer tons of recipes).

Tropink: Sierra Thomas

Are you sober curious?

Sierra Thomas has a mission: to drive you to a state of elation and euphoria…without the mush-brain of an alcohol buzz. Tropink crafts beverages with full-spectrum hemp, along with real fruit flavors that will set your mind roaming to the sandy beach of your choice.

Like many who contemplate the sober side of life, Sierra ran into internal and external resistance when she decided to ditch alcohol. As she shared on the OBEY Creative podcast, she worried leaving drinking behind might change her identity. And that her then-clients would assume she was expecting a baby just because she turned down a drink.

But what she really didn’t like was having to order a (let’s face it, kind of icky) plain tonic water or calorie-packed mocktail just to try and “pass.” So, she created Tropink to be delicious at a low 20 calories. Cheers!

Coro Foods: Clara Veniard + Martinique Grigg

There’s a lot of sausage in the salami industry.

So, it’s no small thing that Clara Veniard and Martinique Grigg, owners of Coro Foods, lead the only certified woman-owned company in the salami and cured meat industry.

They’re here to shake things up. Fittingly, “Coro” is the Italian word for chorus – as in a chorus of flavors. Clara and Martinique’s team cook up award-winning excitement with surprising flavor combinations and clean, all-natural ingredients – all made in small batches in Kent, Washington.

With flavors like Porcini Leek, Mexican Mole, and Orange Cardamom salami, your taste buds are in for a treat. And for the heat lovers (and who here isn’t one?), they even offer a Hot Sopressata Salami with a kick of cayenne.

Find a store near you online or buy directly from their website. Give ‘em a taste. They deserve a place on your charcuterie board.
